During the month of November, students, staff and families of Mayfair Lab School collected and donated nearly 250 pounds of food to The Shepherd’s Market, a community, client-choice food pantry in Southside, exceeding its goal of 200 pounds.

Mayfair’s Parent-Teacher Association coordinated the project with support from school faculty and staff, and the outpouring from students and families. 

The student count at MLS is just over 200 children in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Items donated include canned vegetables and fruit, pasta, soups, canned sauces, cereal, breakfast bars and condiments, such as ketchup and mayonnaise.

Communication with The Shepherd’s Market was key to identifying the pantry’s particular needs; accordingly, the Mayfair family was able to make donations to help fill specific voids on pantry shelves.
