Runnels School head baseball coach Tookie Johnson is the 2015 All-Metro Baseball Coach of the Year for classes 3A and below, a news release said.

Under Johnson’s leadership, the Raiders had their best season yet as a Class 2A team. The team won the district championship and advanced to the LHSAA Class 2A state semifinals as the No. 2 seed, finishing the season with an overall record of 21-5.

Players also have picked up post-season honors. Johnny Johnson, Hampton Hudson and Southern Jags signee Josh Sparks were named to the 2015 All-Metro Team. Hunter Amedee, a Centenary College signee, made honorable mention.

Shortstop Johnson was named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s 2A All-State baseball team, one of five area players to make the squad. Johnson and Raider outfielder Hudson also were named to the All-State Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association All-State baseball team.

Eleven members of the Runnels team were named All-District. Amedee, Hudson, Johnson, Sparks, Brent Hoeprich and Thomas Myers made 1st Team, while Nick Canevari, Evan Garrity, Douglas Gully, Ridge Ory and Emory Monett made second team.
