Lyle Bordelon-Walker, an eighth-grader at Runnels Junior High School, won first place in Research Papers, junior division, at the State History Day Contest held April 12 at the World War II Museum in New Orleans.
His prizes included a medal and $500 to help cover the cost of traveling to the University of Maryland in June, where he will compete in the Kenneth E. Behring National History Day Contest.
