Registration is underway for Pennington Biomedical Research Center’s Doc’s Dash 5K and 1-mile run set for Sept. 27.

Doc’s Dash is a community event for all ages that includes a 5K and 1 mile fun run and interactive activities. Activities start at 6:30 a.m. with registration and the 5K race starts at 8 a.m. at Pennington.

Paula de la Bretonne is serving as the 5K ambassador and Mayor Kip Holden is the 1-mile fun run ambassador.

Rudy Macklin will be the master of ceremonies.

Project Purr adoptions set

Project Purr Baton Rouge is holding pet adoption events from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Petco, 6857 Siegen Lane, and Petsmart, 1653 Millerville Road. Cats and kittens will be available for adoption.

Project Purr Baton Rouge is a nonprofit formed in 2010.

Bookmark workshop set

Teens can create new bookmarks during a craft program at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bluebonnet Regional Library Branch, meeting room 3.

The Corner Bookmarks workshop will help teens make bookmarks to fit on the corner of a page. All materials will be provided.
