BREC’s Coaches Challenge Field Day is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Olympia Stadium, 7211 Perkins Road.

The Coaches Challenge is designed to provide a recreational opportunity for teams to win prize money for their school. Most schools are in need of financial assistance for proper equipment and often rely on fundraising or ticket sales to do so, a news release from BREC said. Teams will compete for the grand prize, a $500 Red Stick Sports gift card.

Local high school athletes and coaches from East Baton Rouge Parish will compete in a series of field day events. Teams who registered will represent sports including volleyball, baseball, cross country, football and basketball.

Events will include tug of war, wheelbarrow race, egg and spoon relay, water balloon toss and an obstacle course. A “Kidz Zone” section, adjacent to the field, will feature inflatables and table games for children.

The event is free to attend, and concessions will be sold.
