Graduation rites

Congratulations to area graduating seniors.

Here’s a rundown of some local graduation ceremonies:

St. Michael the Archangel Diocesan Regional School, 3 p.m. Friday at the Baton Rouge River Center.

Baton Rouge Magnet High, was held 6 p.m. Tuesday at LSU’s Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

McKinley High School, 6 p.m. Monday at Southern University’s F.G. Clark Activity Center.

Episcopal High School, 4 p.m. Friday at Lewis Chapel.

Catholic High School, 4 p.m. Saturday at the Baton Rouge River Center.

The Runnels School, 7 p.m. Thursday, at the school.

Parkview Baptist School, 7 p.m., Monday, May 19, Istrouma Baptist Church.

St. Joseph’s Academy, 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Baton Rouge River Center.

Nature Center marks its 17th anniversary

BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, 10503 N. Oak Hills Parkway, is celebrating 17 years of connecting people with nature. The celebration is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. For information call (225) 757-8905 or visit brec.org/swamp.

St. Michael honors

St. Michael School has announced its adult and alumni award winners.

Troy Matthews, class of 1990, was named Alumnus of the Year, and Myra T. Patureau and Fred Crifasi will receive the Adult Warrior Sword. Warrior Hall of Fame inductees are Grace Ann Nathanson Ourso and Matt Nathanson.

The annual awards dinner honoring the award winners will be at 6:30 p.m. May 29 at Ashley Manor. Tickets are $35. Call (225) 753-9782.
