Members of the Runnels Junior High School cheer squad attended a three-day United Cheer Association camp in June, gaining skills and earning ribbons and trophies along the way.
The coaching camp at St. Aloysius School on June 23-25 featured cheerleaders learning jumps, motions, sideline cheers, chants, dances and lifts, as well as team building and pep rally skills, a news release from Runnels said.
Runnels earned a superior rating for winning blue ribbons in all evaluations and a third-place trophy in the Xtreme routine division. The squad also won the most improved award for camp.
Attending the event were Runnels cheerleaders Sophie Grace Sanders, Taylor Koontz, Paris Vercher, Kissa Benson, Grace Scott, Aeryn Miller, Sophie Arceneaux, Sophie Edwards, Rachel Middlebrook and Emma Schlotterer. Their coach is Holly Wilder.
