Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center staff and visitors celebrated the center’s 17th birthday Saturday with cake, crafts and creatures. The 103-acre facility houses an award-winning, 9,500-square-foot building filled with live animal exhibits; photographic presentations of the site’s flora and fauna; natural artifact and mineral displays; and a vintage waterfowl decoy carving collection. Visitors got a free look at the center Saturday and an up-close look at some of its inhabitants. Staffers brought out snakes and other animals for children to view. Those less adventurous could create paper snakes and creatures.
