The Dunham School’s Kids’ Orchestra is holding its Neighborhood Showcase series at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the school, 11111 Roy Emerson Road.
The concert will feature students from The Dunham School and Gardere Community Christian School.
This is the fifth performance of the eight-show series.
Attendees are asked to make a $5 donation by purchasing a ticket for the school’s holiday raffle to win an Xbox, a 32-inch TV or Beats by Dre.

Parks set holiday events
With the sound of jingle bells in the air, families can celebrate the holiday season all month long with many family-friendly events throughout East Baton Rouge Parish parks and nature sites in December.
ZooLights at BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo is set from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. through Dec. 30. The fee is $5 for adults and teens, $4 for seniors and $3 for children ages 2-12.
Zoo grounds close at 9 p.m. each day and will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Grab your golf clubs and swing into the holiday season at BREC’s Holiday Scramble on Dec. 6 at 9 a.m. at Beaver Creek Golf Course. The fee for this 18-hole, three-player scramble is $150 per team and includes carts and lunch. For more information, call (225) 658-6338 or visit golf.brec.org.
Planta Claus is coming to the Hilltop Arboretum. The Hodge Podge Year-End Plant Sale and Gift Shop Open House is scheduled from 9 am. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Hilltop Arboretum, 11855 Highland Road.
Mark your calendars for BREC’s fifth annual Caroling in City Park on Dec. 11 from 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Celebrate the holiday season with a park lighting ceremony, candle light caroling, festive family activities and a visit from Santa Claus.

Author to sign books
Barbara Sims, author of “The Next Elvis,” will be reading portions of her book starting at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Bluebonnet branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish library.
The program will include a presentation about the music of Sun Records, where Sims worked for many years.
Light refreshments will be served.
Challenge benefits toy drive
Test your skateboard skills and donate a toy at BREC’s Toys for Tots Ollie Challenge from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 13 at Perkins Road Extreme Park.
This annual toy drive, with help from local skate-shops Urban Nine, Rukus and Fidna, benefits Toys for Tots during the holiday season.
