ST. FRANCISVILLE — An agreement to fund the parish's Big Chill had to be struck before the West Feliciana Parish Council had the votes to approve its nearly $9.6 million budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18.

Reed Bayham, 12, of Prairieville, snagged a 21-inch bass from a private pond off La. 10 in St. Francisville while attending an April 29 crawfish boil with his family hosted by Gabe and Melissa Aitken. Reed returned the fish to the pond.

The public is invited to attend the 33rd commencement ceremony for the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts to be held at 2 p.m. on May 20 in Prather Coliseum on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Court Appointed Special Advocates from across Louisiana converged on the Capitol in Baton Rouge on April 27. Resolutions in the Senate and House were read, and the efforts of more than 2,000 volunteers were applauded.
