God made this happy birthday on Oct. 7 just for Margaret Woodard Carraway, of Greensburg; Oct. 9, sister Liz Kinchen, of Jessie Stone Road; and Oct. 12 Glenn Nesom. I hope they will all rejoice and be glad.

--

My husband, Phillip, and Brent Whale, of Amite Cornerstone Church, are in the Philippines and were expected to return home on Tuesday. They are missionaries spreading the gospel.

--

Speaking of Amite Cornerstone, they deemed October as pastor appreciation month.

--

Kudos to Sydney Banks, of Greensburg, who was recipient of the 2013-14 ROC Education Fund Scholarship at the May 23 graduation ceremony.

--

All the way OFA Jackets against Columbia, 5-0, and also the Amite Warriors versus Southern Lab Kittens, 20-16!

--

Congrats to the Amite Holiday Inn that received the award for Louisiana’s No. 1 inn in the U.S. and No. 12 in North America, presented by the International Hotel Group.

--

Woohoo! A new roadway is being made to the NTCC Florida Parishes Campus off Highway 10. There will soon be two entrances to the campus.

--

A “get well soon!” to Fay Jarreau, of Nesom Road, and her sister. Also, to my cousin Leon Wallace, of Hammond, and my cousin Wayne Spence, of New Hebron, Mississippi.

--

Condolences to these families who have lost loved ones; Jane Stone White, Rita Sequin Funderbrook and Norma Varnado. Everlasting joy will crown their heads and gladness and joy will overtake them (Isaiah 51:11).

In Philippians 3:13-14, the apostle Paul said to the Philippians, “Brethren I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the price of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” We cannot redo or undo the past, but by God’s grace we can press forward and serve God, faithfully.
