Welcome to The Advocate Extra.

In this column each week, I’ll share information about St. Helena community events and interesting things going on in the parish.

I’m excited about being the voice in your community.

Here’s a few things happening around the parish.

Adult Day Center to host open house

The Adult Day Geriatric Care Center, at 6108 La. 10, in Greensburg will host its grand opening Friday.

It’s designed to provide care and companionship for adults in need during the day.

The center will provide a variety of planned program activities, social activities, a hot lunch and two snacks.

It’s open from 7 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and holidays.

Venable Chapel hosts Worship in Pink Service

The Rev. Troy T. Grimes and The Venable Chapel Church family invite you to worship with them at the annual Worship in Pink Service at 2 p.m. Sunday at 185 Venable Chapel Road, in Greensburg.

The program’s mission is to bring awareness to breast cancer and to stress the importance of early detection, church leaders said.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Celestan Vaughn, of Mount Everett AME Church.

For information, call Venable Chapel’s Christian Education Director, Myrtis W. Johnson, at (225) 357-4549 or (225) 362-9015.
