The original publication from 1979 reads: 'Marine Private Gregory Hurst, son of Creole K. and Fred Hurst Jr,. of Greensburg, has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. During the 10 and a half week training cycle, he learned the basics of battlefield survival. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will experience during his enlistment and he studied the personel and proffessional standards traditionally exhibited by Marines. A 1978 graduate of St. Helena High School in Greensburg, he joined the Marine Corps in December 1978.'
