Routine traffic stop results in drug arrest _lowres

A routine traffic stop by St. Helena Parish Deputy Toler Smith and his K-9 partner, Bubba, led to discovery of drugs with a street value of $1,000, according to the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Smith and his partner were conducting a traffic stop March 14 on La. 38 near the intersection of La. 43 when the deputy said the smell of marijuana was coming from the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of marijuana, Smith said. The deputy said he and his partner also located drug paraphernalia and THC wax in the vehicle.

Philip Alan Collins, 30, of 5004 Live Oak, Dixon, Texas, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
