Around St. Helena for Dec. 4, 2014 _lowres

Stephanie Warren

Summertime brings with it sunshine, lazy days, farmers markets and, best of all, an amazing array of fresh flowers.

July is the month at the height of summer, and for many, that means days out with the family and long evenings in the sun.

With more people tending to their gardens in July, you will have the chance to see some incredible flowers every day.

Summertime, especially July, is often said to be the optimal time to cultivate orchids. Almost all the varieties are in season now. Orchid blooms last up to several months, making either potted or cut orchids a great choice if you’re seeking a plant with staying power.

Summer is arguably the best season for flowers, so you’re in luck if you’re a summer bride. There are plenty of beautiful, popular flowers in season right now that are ideal for weddings.
