Have you ever hoped against hope? Have you ever been so down about a situation that you could not, even in your wildest imagination, see the silver lining in your life?
Maybe you have not. I may be the only person to have been there.
If you have been the guy or gal everybody loves to hate because of your success, stop reading this now. I am writing this to connect with those who keep stepping into the batter’s box of life and seemingly strike out every time.
Every day is a full count for you, and as life throws one last pitch, you take another swing but ultimately strike out again. You have been given the chance by Coach Life to take the game-winning shot or kick the game-winning field goal. As the timeout ends and the pressure builds, you patiently calm your nerves and prepare to be a hero. Unfortunately, just as before, your efforts and talent prove to be of no avail. The game-winning shot is an air ball while the field goal kick hits the left goal post and falls back into the end zone.
I know in sports and in our society, we tend to look at the small picture. We get caught up in the mundane day-to-day wins and losses of life. But, may I remind you: Life is not a sprint, but rather a marathon. And the marathon of life does not end. You may choose to get out of the race , but if you truly want to experience the richness of victory and success, it will pay to stay in the race and dig deep.
I know life may throw some vicious jabs. It may even play dirty and hit you below the belt a few times, but do not get out of the ring.
Winners never relegate their goals and dreams to the pain and agony of one season of life’s defeats. You are stronger than you think. You can win and beat the odds of life.
Whatever battle you are facing , do not surrender to the doom and gloom. Take the roads of the greats. You have what it takes. You are what it takes. Renew your focus each day, sharpen your inner drive and make your way to victory.
Let me warn you, there will be many more missed shots, blocked field goals and strikeouts.Use those as fuel for your fire. It will all pay off. Life is only throwing those punches to make you stronger and more resilient.
Life is a coach. It cares about your growth and it sees your potential. You may not see it now, but when it is all said and done, you will thank life in the end.
Let’s go out and make it happen.
