My special day was Sunday and I celebrated accordingly. Philip took me to see “Night at the Museum: The Secret of the Tomb” and to eat at the Panda Garden in Amite. Rita Allen celebrates the same day, so I hear she enjoyed her day in her special way.

Linda Collins, with the Honduras Mama Tara Orphonage, was the guest missionary speaker at Amite Cornerstone Church, Jan. 25. She made a profound impression on the congregation.

Clinton Silliman Institute cheerleaders joined more than 830 performers from 41 states at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, in Florida, recently. As a result, they won the Gametime Top Team award.

Several Martin Luther King celebrations took place in Kentwood, Independence and St. Helena Parish Jan. 19. The one held in Kentwood also was dedicated to an O.W. Dillon Elementary teacher, Artis Andrews, who had taught at the school for 38 years and died in December.

Jesus tells us in the gospel of John 13:34-35, how you can be identified as His own. “Love one another; as I have loved you...by this all will know that you, my disciples, if you have love for one another. A believer should show love to all those around, in word and deed. In John 4:11, he says, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also should show love to one another.”
