Parades are the staple of any Mardi Gras celebration. If you want to take your family to one but want to avoid the huge crowds and big cities, there are several parades on this side of the lake that are a bit quieter and more family oriented. There are plenty on the schedule, so don’t worry about missing out. Here are just a select few parades set to roll in surrounding parishes:

Krewe of Omega

The Krewe of Omega parade in Hammond will roll at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Line-up and parade route can be found at www.kreweofomega.com.

Krewe of Eve

The Krewe of Eve parade in Mandeville will be at 7 p.m. Friday. Line-up will begin at Ashbury Drive and U.S. 190 (Emerald Road).The parade will head west on 190, merging with La. 22 through town. The parade will turn southeast on the West Causeway. It will follow that road all the way down to North Causeway Boulevard. The krewe will proceed under North Causeway and follow the eastern approach to the causeway east to U.S. 190.

Krewe de Paws

The Krewe de Paws parade in Slidell is set to roll at 10 a.m. Saturday. Line-up begins on Ciruti Street and turns on Robert Street. The krewe travels one block down and takes a right on Carey Street and a left on Brakefield Street and curves around to become First Street. The parade takes a right on Robert and parades down until reaching Second Street where it makes a left. It follows Second Street until reaching Erlanger Street where it takes a left. The krewe takes another left back onto First Street a block later. It takes First Street to Cousin Street, where the parade makes a right turn. It travels one more block to reach Carey Street where it makes a left and heads a block south to the parade’s conclusion.

Krewe of Titans

The Krewe of Titans parade in Slidell rolls at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Line-up begins at Spartan Drive and U.S. 11. The krewe will follow U.S. 11 to U.S. 190, where the parade will turn east. From 190, the parade will end just east of Kensington Boulevard.

Krewe of Olympia

The Krewe of Olympia parade in Covington begins at 6 p.m. Saturday. Line-up will begin North Columbia and Jefferson streets. The parade will follow North Columbia Street south until it reaches East Boston Street, where it will turn west. From East Boston, the parade will go southwest on South Jefferson Avenue. The krewe will turn northwest on East 15th Avenue. On South Taylor Street, the parade will turn toward the northeast and proceed until it reaches at West 23rd Avenue. On 23rd, the parade will turn southeast and venture back down to North Jefferson Avenue. From North Jefferson, the krewe will go back to East 21st and go east.

The parade will end at North Columbia and North Thread streets.
