December is here, Christmas is near and decorations are up; let the holiday festivities begin.

December brings with it a certain sense of peace, love and tranquility. From the colorful decorations to home-made goodies, the Christmas season brings a smile to most faces.

Here are a few festivities happening in the community.

Christmas parade

The Greensburg Christmas parade will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 12.

The parade begins on South Third Street in front of the Forest Festival Grounds, turns onto La. 37, up to La. 10, then right on La. 43.

All entries must be received no later than Dec. 9.

Caroling in the Pines

Sponsored by S.H.A.P.E., Caroling in the Pines is set for Dec. 12 at the Forest Festival Grounds in Greensburg immediately following the Christmas parade.

Bring the family for caroling and a visit with Santa.

S.H.A.P.E members are looking for youth, churches, family, businesses, individuals, clubs and groups to participate in making Caroling in the Pines a special and new tradition for St. Helena.
