The 4-H Culinary Arts Contest is set for March 5 at the St. Francisville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Students enrolled in 4-H from throughout West Feliciana Parish will have the opportunity to prepare dishes in the following categories:

SEAFOO D: oyster, crab, fish and other, shrimp, crawfish

POULTRY: chicken, processed poultry products, other poultry meats

GROUND BEEF: low-calorie main dish, quick and easy main dish, one-dish meal

EGG: appetizer/salad, main dish, desserts

SUGAR: cake, candy, cookies, pie

FAVORITES: sweet potato, wild game, other


All dishes must arrive cold, on ice and in an ice chest or they will be disqualified.

Registration of the dishes will be from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by judging. During the judging, 4-H’ers will participate in a walking scavenger hunt of downtown St. Francisville. Cookery results will be announced at 3:30 p.m.

All first-place winners in the seafood, poultry, ground beef, egg and sugar cookery categories will represent West Feliciana 4-H at the Regional Culinary Arts Contest in May.
