West Feliciana Parish Council District D
Heather Reid Howle has qualified to run for the West Feliciana Parish Council District D seat.
She and her husband of 17 years, Rob, are teachers at West Feliciana Middle School in St. Francisville and have two children attending parish schools: Hayden, 14, and Ella-Corinne, 10. The family attends Grace Episcopal Church and is active in the community.
Howle was named Teacher of the Year in 2011 and 2015 and has won numerous teaching awards.
For the past four years, she has represented District 6 on the West Feliciana Parish Council. During her term, Howle was selected as chairwoman of the council, served on several committees, and recently secured $300,000 in capital outlay for the Island Road low-water bridge project, she said in a written announcement.
Howle said her goals, if re-elected, include supporting smart growth while preserving the charm and beauty of West Feliciana, increasing transparency, and improving infrastructure and services by working with the parish president, council and residents.
“We are at a critical juncture in West Feliciana. The health of our top-rated school district and vitality of our parish depends on increased revenue and wise decisions made by parish leaders. I believe my experience and track record of cooperation makes me the best candidate for District D. It would be a great honor to serve,” Howle said.
The last day to register to vote in the Oct. 24 primary election is Sept. 23.
