The monthly nature walk sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at LSU, West Feliciana Chapter will be held Saturday at the West Feliciana Sports Park, 10166 West Feliciana Parkway, St. Francisville.
The hike, which is held on the hiking and biking trail, starts at 10 a.m. but participants are urged to arrive early, organizers said.

Southern Garden Symposium
The 26th Southern Garden Symposium is coming to St. Francisville.
LSU Agricultural Center’s Dan Gill, New Orleans landscape architect Rene Fransen and authors Greg Grant and Bill Welch will speak during the two-day event Friday and Saturday at several plantations and area historic sites.
The symposium is known as much for its social events and historic venues as for its gardening lectures and workshops, organizers said. The Southern Garden Symposium has become an annual tradition for garden enthusiasts.

Hunter safety course set
A hunters education course is set for Oct. 13-14 at the West Feliciana Parish Fire Protection District 1, 9892 West Feliciana Parkway, St. Francisville.
Twentieth Judicial District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla’s office and André Brock, West Feliciana Parish cooperative extension agent, will host the free class from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday. Lunch will be provided.
Those who pass the written exam will shoot at the WF Sports Park from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Again this year, the Warrior Dash, a competitive obstacle course run, will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at West Feliciana Sports Park, 10166 West Feliciana Parkway, St. Francisville.
The event is part of a nationwide program that helps to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event started in Chicago in 2009 by Red Frog Events as a way to provide a fun, challenging fitness program, according to its website.
