The beloved “Harvey Rabbit and Friends” program returns to St. Francisville Jan. 22 to present “A Golden Rule School” for elementary students.

The program will feature puppetry, music, magic, comedy, dancing, acting and audience participation while encouraging students to follow the Golden Rule — one should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself — say no to bullying, and be alcohol and drug free, according to the West Feliciana Parish Drug and Alcohol Awareness Council.

Tim and Laura Allured, from Lake Charles and graduates of McNeese State University, have been using puppets and ventriloquism in an educationally entertaining way since 1986.

The couple and their puppets tour the country each year, making a stop in West Feliciana to educate and entertain students, said the council’s Luanne Vaccaro.

The program is sponsored by the West Feliciana Parish Drug and Alcohol Council, the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office and Bank of St. Francisville.

“Harvey Rabbit and Friends” will be presented twice on Jan. 22: at 9:30 a.m. for Bains Lower Elementary School students in the school gym and at 8:15 a.m. for Bains Elementary School students.
