West Feliciana Parish 4-H youth in grades 4 through 12 were encouraged to participate in “Take a Parent Fishing Day.”
The annual fishing contest was held in early May at the pond at the Magnuson Hotel in St. Francisville. The West Feliciana Parish Agricultural Center supplied the crickets and worms.
Teams of two competed, with 4-H’ers pairing with a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, brother, sister or friend age 18 or older.
Participating 4-H youth included Hayes Carruth, Josie and Will D’Aquilla, Devarré Dyson, Emaline Kile, Christian and Kyra King, Archer Pangburn and Shelbie Welch.
Based on the number of fish caught, the winning teams were Emaline and Jennie Kile, first place, and Archer Pangburn and Ernest Ayo, Will and Billy D’Aquilla and Josie and Andy D’Aquilla, who tied for second place.
The West Feliciana 4-H office donated prizes of fishing lures, rods and reels, and tackle boxes.
