Nancy Bickham, of St. Francisville, was one of four young adults from Louisiana who earned Angus Foundation scholarships at the National Junior Angus Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, July 16-17.

More than 100 scholarships were presented to undergraduate and graduate students from around the U.S., totaling more than $215,000 invested in the agriculture industry’s future.

The other Louisiana residents earning scholarships were Lee Hymel, of Vacherie; Cheyenne Jones, of Franklinton; and Isaac McFarland, of Keithville.

A five-member committee evaluates each scholarship application and considers National Junior Angus Association involvement, state junior association participation, leadership and other criteria, according to a news release.

Since 1998, the Angus Foundation has awarded more than $2.3 million in undergraduate and graduate scholarships to Angus youth.
