The Friends of Cat Island will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the West Feliciana Parish Library.

The group is a nonprofit that works to preserve Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge, which was established in 2000 by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service as part of the National Wildlife Refuge System.

The Friends work to preserve and manage the natural forested wetland habitats for migratory birds, aquatic resources and endangered or threatened plants and animals. Friends of Cat Island is also welcoming volunteers for the “Volunteer for a Day” program.
