Area photographers are invited to use their talents for capturing images and their imagination and creativity to make the connection between art and literature for an upcoming photography contest.

A juried photography exhibit, “A Novel Image,” is slated for Feb. 21 at Hemingbough in conjunction with St. Francisville’s Writers and Readers Symposium: A Celebration of Literature and Art.

Amateur and professional photographers can submit up to three images, each representing a work of literature.

The deadline for submitting entries is Dec. 15.

Photographers whose images are selected for the exhibit will be notified by Jan. 5.

All photos chosen for the exhibit must be matted or framed, no larger than 16 by 20 inches and no smaller than 11 by 14 inches. Matted entries must be received by Feb. 20.

All entries must have the photographer’s name, phone number and email address on a label attached to the back of the photo along with title or work of literature the photo represents.

Authors expected at the 2015 Symposium are California mystery writer Abigail Padgett, whose most recent book is set in St. Francisville; New Orleans novelist and short story writer Moira Crone; Louisiana Poet Laureate Ava Hayman; and photographer and writer Richard Sexton, whose latest release explores the Creole connections of New Orleans to the Latin Caribbean.

Tickets for the Writers and Readers Symposium are $35 if purchased in November or December by visiting www.brownpapertickets.com.
