Bains Elementary School students in St. Francisville were saddened when they discovered deer had eaten the leafy tops of the vegetable plants in their gardens.
According to West Feliciana Parish 4-H and LSU Agricultural Agent André Brock, the youth had planted broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and a host of other vegetables, only to have them nibbled on by the deer.
“It’s so sad. The garden looked awesome last Thursday and so full,” Brock said. “We had even picked a lot before this happened.”
