Capital Area Court Appointed Special Advocates Association depends on volunteers to provided services for abused and neglected children in need of safe, permanent homes.
The agency honored 12 volunteers, including Connie Jordan, of St. Francisville, as Capital Area CASA’s Volunteers of the Month for 2015, a news release said.
Honored were Lynnez Gray-Thompson, January; Kimberly Mockler, February; Rachel Podnar, March; Andy McCall, April; Sabrina Noah, May; Samantha Hawkins, June; Jordan, July; Gladys Wicker, August; Naiwen Guo-Xing, September; Irina Sterpu, October; Craig Winchell, November; and JoAnn Johnson, December.
CASA always needs volunteers to continue serving every child in East Baton Rouge Parish who needs a voice. Attending a 45-minute orientation session is the first step to becoming a CASA volunteer. The next orientation sessions are 5 p.m. Thursday and noon Jan. 27 at 848 Louisiana Ave., Baton Rouge. Sessions also are scheduled for February and March.
CASA’s next volunteer training course begins in May.
