Friends of the West Feliciana Parish Library, a grass-roots nonprofit composed of residents dedicated to supporting the library in St. Francisville, invites the community to an open house and anniversary reception from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

A year ago, an Oct. 3 dedication ceremony celebrated the opening of the new library at 5114 Burnett Road.

Friends of the Library 2015-16 officers — President Pat Heurtin, Vice President Darlene Reaves, Secretary Laurel Berryman and Treasurer Margaret Roubique — invite everyone to drop by Saturday to help celebrate the milestone and for the placement of the first 60 commemorative bricks in the library’s courtyard. Bricks, which are available for purchase, are in memory of someone or commemorate a living person.

Funds raised by the Friends of the Library organization are used to purchase library materials and support programs, services, events and staff.

Participation in the club is encouraged and includes volunteering, participation in children’s programming and volunteering at annual events, such as the Christmas Tour of Homes.

To join Friends of the Library, one-year membership fees are $10 for one person, $15 for families, $50 for corporations or businesses, or $100 for a lifetime membership.
