The East Baton Rouge Parish 4-H program hosted its annual Shooting Sports Invitational Feb. 27 at the 4-H property in Baker, welcoming 229 youth from 10 parishes, including Ascension, Jefferson, Livingston, St. Charles, St. James, St. Martin, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and West Feliciana.

The event provided opportunities to compete in air rifle, air pistol, BB gun, shotgun and archery, which had barebow, compound, sighted recurve and genesis divisions.

In addition to the six 4-H’ers from West Feliciana, volunteer archery coach James Cook and volunteer shotgun coach Walter Oliveaux attended. West Feliciana students competing included Connor Cook, first place, Junior Genesis and fourth place Junior Barebow; Sam Brashier, second place, Junior Barebow; Logan Cook, seventh place, Junior Genesis; and Eliana Singleton, 10th place, Junior Genesis.

Also, Chandler Achord and Jeremiah Wilson competed in the Junior Shotgun division.

The 4-H competitors are preparing for the Ascension Parish Invitational on Saturday followed by the regional and state competitions in April.
