Eleven Boy Scouts and six adult chaperones from Troop 61 in St. Francisville spent six adventurous days in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in May.
The scouts’ trip May 22-28 included kayaking down the Tennessee River, a four-hour eco-adventure hike deep into Raccoon Mountain caverns, zip lining in the Appalachian foothills, experiencing Class 3 and 4 rapids while whitewater rafting down the Ocoee River, climbing rock walls at the High Point Climbing center in downtown Chattanooga and visiting the Tennessee Aquarium.
Participating in the adventure were Scouts Chandler Achord, Will Bowman, Caleb Dixon, Drew Hennessy, Jack Horn, James Patrick Horn, Julian Horn, Aiden Ledoux, Spencer Malone, David Slater and Harrison Smith.
Chaperones were Russell Achord, Ralph Hennessy, Robby Horn, John Malone, Wayne Slater and Nick Smith.
BSA Troop 61, sponsored by St. Francisville United Methodist Church, held community fundraisers in April to help pay for the trip.
