A group of 17 second-graders helped greet parents and family members and served as guides during the Bains Lower Elementary School open house on Aug. 13 in St. Francisville.

Assistant Principal Nikki Milton said the ambassadors welcomed new families and parents and assisted in helping them find their children’s classrooms.

“The ambassadors were ‘alumni’ of Bains Lower, and as part of the school’s Leader In Me program, were building the ability where they learn soft skills like greeting adults and having effective social interaction with them,” Milton said. “All of these children were second-graders who were familiar with the school, and they helped the new families by greeting them and showing them where to go. It was great because it promotes leadership and service to the kids.”
