ST. FRANCISVILLE — In its last meeting before the new fiscal year begins on July 1, the West Feliciana Parish School Board on Tuesday took care of some basic housekeeping.
The board rejected two bids for banking services. The Bank of St. Francisville submitted a bid that offered to share banking with Whitney Bank. However, Whitney Bank’s bid expressed it no longer wished to participate in the agreement and included a list of its various fees.
“We reviewed everything, and we reject all bids, and we’ll work out a public agency agreement,” Supervisor of Finance and Management Ruthie Davis told the board.
In previous years, the Bank of St. Francisville shared the banking with the Bank of Commerce, then Hancock Bank and most recently, Whitney Bank.
The board gave Davis permission to enter into an agreement for fiscal agent services for three years with a local bank, based on the recommendation of District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla, the legal counsel for the board.
Also on Tuesday, the board awarded a bid of $112,000 to Percy J. Matherne Contractors of Baton Rouge for work on the West Feliciana Middle School to improve drainage and prevent further erosion on the property.
In his report, Superintendent Hollis Milton expressed appreciation to three longtime employees — Child Nutrition Supervisor Carla Greggs, Supervisor of Federal Programs Joyce Edwards and Family Service Center Supervisor Bridget Plauche — who are retiring June 30.
