West Feliciana Parish law enforcement participated in the national Click It or Ticket campaign from May 23 to June 5 in an effort to save lives through increased seat belt use, officials said.

During that time, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office worked 1,000 hours enforcing seat belt use throughout the parish. According to a news release, 1,062 people in 726 vehicles were stopped and 74 citations issued during the campaign. Of the citations issued, 43 were for no seat belts or no child seat restraints; 17 for expired or no motor vehicle insurance; six for no driver’s license or expired license; three were for open container; and two for speeding.

The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists that seat belts save lives, and the enforcement of seat belt use will continue.
