PORT ALLEN — A small video camera tucked away in the sanctuary of a Port Allen church on Saturday night captured the images of two males burglarizing the building, which was one of three Baptist churches burglarized in the town that night.
Kevin Cyrus, a detective with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, said Monday the two black males are suspected of prying open the back doors to New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 14801 N. River Road; St. Paul’s Baptist Church, 6536 Bueche Road; and Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 9090 Section Road, sometime late Saturday night.
Cyrus said churchgoers arrived Sunday morning to find the churches’ sound systems, amplifiers, electric pianos and computers had been stolen.
Cyrus did not have an estimated value of the missing items Monday afternoon.
Cyrus said the males are facing three counts of simple burglary of a religious building.
Authorities asked that anyone with information regarding the identification and whereabouts of the two suspects to call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP.
