PLAQUEMINE - A Plaquemine woman died around 8 p.m. Monday on La. 75 after crashing her car and landing in about 2 feet of water, according to a State Police news release.
Lola Light, 44, was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am north on La. 75, just south of the La. 75 Spur, when she entered a right-hand curve and lost control of the vehicle, the release said.
Light’s car rotated clockwise, ran off the roadway to the right, and rolled onto its driver’s side. The vehicle then struck several trees before coming to a stop, troopers reported.
Light was partially ejected and pinned in the water beneath the car. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash, the release said.
