VENTRESS — Two Pointe Coupee Parish drivers involved in a head-on collision that temporarily shut down a portion of La. 415 Thursday morning were hospitalized for treatment of their injuries, Louisiana State Police said.
Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said the crash occurred about 11 a.m. Thursday when Dana L. Coleman, 34, of New Roads, veered off the road as she was driving northbound along La. 415 and overcorrected her vehicle, causing it to swerve into the oncoming lane.
Coleman crashed into 18-year-old Tyler J. Nelson, of Ventress, who was driving in the southbound lane of La. 415, just north of La. 413 outside of New Roads, Sandifer said in a news release.
Coleman and Nelson were transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital where Coleman was treated for serious injuries and Nelson received care for his moderate injuries, Sandifer said.
Sandifer said Coleman was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash but Nelson was not.
Investigators did not know yet why Coleman lost control of her car, Sandifer said.
