The American Cancer Society’s annual “Relay for Life of West Baton Rouge” festival-style overnight fundraiser will start at 5 p.m. Friday, April 5, and finish at 5 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Brusly High School football field and track.
The event’s opening ceremony and special tribute to all cancer survivors will begin at 5:30 p.m. on April 5.
This year’s event will feature Louisiana cuisine and activities such as an obstacle course — provided by Play Dirty Adventure Trail Run — horseback rides, inflatables and live music by Gary Bello and Friends Band.

The West Baton Rouge Historical Association and West Baton Rouge Museum will join in celebrating 45 years of service to the community at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the West Baton Rouge Museum.
Current and past board members will be recognized and highlights of the past 45 years will be noted at the event. The recently published book “History of West Baton Rouge Parish: People, Places, Progress” will be on sale.

Registration for the Oxbow Triathlon will close at noon Wednesday.
The Pointe Coupee Parish sporting event consists of a half-mile swim in False River, an 18-mile bicycle race, and a 3.1-mile run.
The triathlon is scheduled to start at 6 a.m. on April 6.

The Iberville Parish Parks and Recreation District and We Are the Difference Inc. will cosponsor a “Cookie Swap” at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The event will take place in the West Wing of the Carl F. Grant Civic Center.
Each guest is asked to bring two dozen homemade cookies. The cookies must be homemade. Guests will swap cookies and enjoy lemonade provided by the sponsors.

The gathering will feature a discussion with Steve Schapiro, a book signing, a wine and cheese reception and music by the River Road Jazz Quartet.
The reception complements the museum’s new exhibition, “Heroes: Photographs by Steve Schapiro,” which runs Tuesday to June 9.
