The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will begin repairs Friday on Interstate 10, between La. 415 in Port Allen and the Iberville Parish line, which will mean overnight lane closures until the work is completed.

Crews will be replacing asphalt mainly on the outside eastbound and westbound lanes of the affected area, DOTD said in a news release.

In order to minimize traffic impacts, weekday overnight lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Weekendlong lane closures will start at 6:30 p.m. Fridays and end at 6:30 a.m. on Mondays.

A minimum of one lane will be open in each direction, and there will be no closures on major holidays or during LSU and Southern University home game weekends.

The repair work is expected to be completed within 60 working days, the news release said.

Motorists will be encouraged to use the designated detour.
