Artists are encouraged to submit entries for the 41st annual Acadian ArtShow between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the J. Allan Nadler Building, 24605 J. Gerald Berret Blvd., Plaquemine.
The competition is open to all amateur and professional artists. Paintings must be “ready to hang,” original works or not have been entered in past Acadian ArtShow competitions.
Art entries will be displayed at the Iberville Parish Library between Saturday and Oct. 15. Prizes will be awarded during a public reception between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 16.

100 years of Brusly High
An exhibit of historic photographs recognizing the 100th anniversary of Brusly High School will open at 11 a.m. Saturday at the West Baton Rouge Museum.
Joanne Bourgeois, a retired West Baton Rouge educator, will narrate a slide show of photographs that chronicle some of the school’s history.
The photographs will be displayed through Dec. 29.

Get healthy in WBR
The West Baton Rouge Parish Health Unit invites the public to undergo free blood pressure and blood sugar health screenings between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month at the Health Unit.
Screenings also will be held at the Erwinville Food Pantry on the second Thursday of each month.
The public is further invited to get tips on nutrition and healthy eating between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Health Unit.

Angola art on display
The Angola Art V arts and crafts show is in full swing at the West Baton Rouge Parish Library.
