Early voting for the March 28 proposition election in West Baton Rouge Parish will be at the Registrar’s Office, located in the Courthouse Annex Building, starting on March 21, according to West Baton Rouge Registrar of Voters Stacy Ryan.

Hours for early voting will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day — excluding Sunday, March 22.

Voters will have an opportunity to cast ballots for or against West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Mike Cazes’ request to add a half-cent sales tax on retail purchases made in the parish.

Cazes said he needs the $2.9 million the proposed tax would generate annually to address the more than $6 million shortfall he’s been facing every year in his $12.9 million operating budget for the Sheriff’s Office.

For information on early voting for the election, contact the Registrar’s Office at (225) 336-2421.
