A Tennessee man died following a crash Tuesday involving three 18-wheelers on Interstate 10 in Iberville Parish.

Karl Lindberg, 42, of Crossville, Tennessee, sustained severe injuries and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center, where he later succumbed to those injuries, State Police said in a news release. The crash occurred just after 4 p.m. in the eastbound lanes west of Ramah.

State Police gave this account of the crash:

David Sanders, 63, of Holden, traveling eastbound on I-10 in a 2016 Peterbuilt truck, came to a stop in the right lane because of traffic congestion. Devon White, 22, of Elyria, Ohio, traveling eastbound in a 2016 Freightliner truck, saw Sanders’ vehicle stopped and steered to the right shoulder, but the trailer of White’s vehicle sideswiped the trailer of Sanders’ vehicle.

Lindberg, traveling behind White in a 2016 Freightliner truck, also steered to the right shoulder to avoid striking Sanders’ vehicle but was unsuccessful. Lindberg’s vehicle struck the trailers of both Sanders’ and White’s vehicles, causing severe damage.

Sanders and White were not injured in the crash. All drivers were properly restrained and impairment is not suspected.
