The West Baton Rouge Museum is bringing a new exhibit to the parish in the fall titled “The Sugar Mill Sessions.”
The exhibit, which runs from Sept. 6 through Nov. 9, will feature three groupings of photographs focused on sugar production in southwest Louisiana.
Photographer David Armentor shot the images, mostly at night, during the months of September through January.
The exhibition also will be on display during the 2014 Sugarfest, which will take place at the museum Oct. 5.
On Sept. 7, the museum will present a free World War I Firearms Show-and-Tell from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Museum Curator Angelique Bergeron will give a gallery tour of the exhibit “100 Years After the War to End All Wars.”
Foundation steak dinner
The Pointe Coupee Parish chapter of the Delta Waterfowl Foundation will host its steak dinner banquet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Scott Civic Center in New Roads.

Fishing tournaments set
The Cookie Jar Fishing Tournament Classic is set for Sept. 12, and the Tuesday Night Fishing Tournament Classic will be in October.
Qualifying competitions for both fishing tournaments, which take place in False River in Pointe Coupee Parish, happen every Tuesday and Friday night each week leading up to their final classic tournaments.
The Tuesday tournament is held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the Friday Night Cookie Jar Tournament kicks off at 9 p.m. and lasts until midnight each week.
The weigh-in for the Tuesday night tournament is held at the Morrison Parkway Boat Dock in New Roads. The Cookie Jar tournament weigh-in is now held at the SandBar Boat Dock in Oscar.

Plaquemine krewe vendors
The Krewe of Comogo will hold its 2015 nighttime Mardi Gras parade Feb. 16.

Girl Scouts Louisiana East, along with the Baton Rouge Arts Council, is offering a series of art workshops for any girls in the fourth or fifth grade from Iberville Parish.
The Saturday art workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Iberville Parish Library on Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 and the St. Gabriel Community Center on Sept. 20 and 27.
The workshops cost $10 per student; all art materials, snacks and drinks will be provided but girls can bring a brown bag lunch.
