WHITE CASTLE — White Castle police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of three people who were hit by a train early Sunday morning.
Police Chief Mario Brown said two men and one woman were in a vehicle at 1:30 a.m. Sunday when they were struck by a Union Pacific train at the crossing on Bowie Street.
The victims have been identified as Courtney Canada, 25, Clifton Maurice Davis, 37, and Andrea M. Foster, 33, Brown said.
Investigators do not know many details about the crash yet, such as who was driving, whether they were intoxicated or whether the safety equipment at the crossing operated properly, Brown said.
Union Pacific officials have been cooperative with the ongoing investigation, Brown said.
He said it will be about a week until they complete their investigation.
