Monday is the final day for applicants to qualify for the new-student lottery conducted for entry into the Iberville Parish Math, Science and Arts Academy’s east and west campuses.

Applications for the lottery were mailed to all Iberville Parish residents in December. Students interested in applying also may pick up application forms at the offices at both schools.

The MSA Academy curriculum offers innovative science, technology and performing and visual arts.

Students gain admittance into the schools through a lottery. The drawing will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Optional Education Center auditorium in Plaquemine.

The students who complete an application and meet the minimum requirements will be selected during an open meeting using a computerized web-based program that generates random numbers.

The computer program will rank students randomly by grade and send back a list of the students chosen.
