The program’s goals are to seek out, train and promote high achievers for positions of voluntary responsibility in the community.

Good government

The Iberville Coalition for Good Government organization is holding an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Widow Son Lodge No. 10 Masonic Hall, 58280 Meriam St., Plaquemine.

The purpose of the meeting is to increase awareness and involvement in local government. The group plans to conduct voter registration drives and interview candidates for local and state public offices at subsequent meetings.

West Baton Rouge Parish residents are invited to support Mentoring Minds for the Future, a parish organization made up of mothers determined to inspire and motivate children.

The organization is asking the public to purchase fish plates for $7 or chitterling plates for $10 at a community dinner Saturday at 1110 Michigan Ave., Port Allen.

Run for charity

Pointe Coupee Parish residents are invited to the 5K Angel Fun Run Fundraiser and accompanying co-ed softball tournament to be held Saturday at Fordoche Ball Park in Fordoche.

Registration for the run costs $30 per person and begins at 7:30 a.m. Runners and teams of runners are encouraged to wear pink or dress up in their best angel costume. All proceeds will go to help parish cancer patients.
