The New Roads Police Department is investigating the death of a man who was fatally shot Friday morning after getting into an argument with his suspected shooter.

Authorities Friday afternoon had yet to release the name of the victim or the suspect, but Police Chief Kevin McDonald anticipates an arrest will be made.

McDonald said the suspect and the victim, both males, were both visiting a friend who lived in the 100 block of 13th Street when the incident occurred.

“They were hanging out, and the two individuals got into a brief argument, and there was an apparent struggle,” he said.

Authorities released no further details about the incident Friday afternoon.

McDonald said State Police are helping in the investigation.
