A Baton Rouge man accused of raping a woman he held captive overnight in a Port Allen motel led West Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies and Louisiana State Police troopers on a high-speed chase Wednesday.

Col. Richie Johnson, with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, said deputies were dispatched to the Budget 7 motel along U.S. 190 on Wednesday afternoon after a 911 dispatch received a call regarding a domestic dispute between a man and a woman.

When deputies arrived, Johnson said, they saw a woman jump out of a moving van.

The woman then snatched her 2-year-old child out of the vehicle before fleeing into the motel, Johnson said.

“When the deputies tried to approach the driver to interview him, he sped off,” Johnson said.

The driver, who Johnson identified as Courtney T. Lacy, 37, of Baton Rouge, led officers on a high-speed chase down I-10 westbound toward Lafayette.

Johnson said Lacy made it to St. Martin Parish, near Lafayette, before Louisiana State Police Troop I was able to stop him by putting down spikes along the westbound lanes of I-10.

Lacy crashed after swerving into the eastbound lane. No injuries were reported.

Johnson said the woman told deputies that Lacy held her overnight against her will and raped her. The woman and child were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Lacy, who Johnson said is wanted in Baton Rouge for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and attempted felony theft, was to be booked into West Baton Rouge Parish Jail on counts of simple rape and false imprisonment, Johnson said.

Lacy also is wanted in Iberville Parish for simple battery/domestic violence in a previous incident involving the same woman, Johnson said.
