Residents in and around Pointe Coupee Parish are invited to the Julien Poydras Museum and Arts Center this weekend for two performances of the “Boudreaux and Friends Comedy Variety Show.”

The family-oriented show is produced by Leroy “Rocky” Jarreau, a Livonia native who will transform himself into “Granny Jarreau” during the musical and comedic performances.

Saturday’s show begins at 6:45 p.m. Sunday’s show starts at 1:45 p.m. Both shows will be held at 500 W. Main St., New Roads.

A winning face

Sugah Rush Bakery in Plaquemine and Brusly native Amanda Olano have been named grand prize winners in the “Make a Cake Face” sweepstakes sponsored by General Mills.

Contestants were asked to name their favorite area bakery and share a photo from a special “cake face” moment through a Facebook page.

Olano submitted a photo of her 1-year-old son’s first cake experience — he was enjoying a birthday cake made by Sugah Rush’s owner, Keri Berthelot.

Olano and Sugah Rush won $2,500 each in the contest.

Horse riding camp

Three ZZZ’s Barn invites campers to register for two Summer Horse Riding Camp sessions to be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily from Monday through July 22 and from Aug. 1-5.

Children between 6 and 12 years of age, and of all riding levels, are welcome.

A park dedication

The public is invited to make the drive to White Castle at 9 a.m. Saturday for a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the “Town Hall & Heritage Fitness Park.”

Free fun at WBR library

The West Baton Rouge Parish Library invites residents to come out and see “Zoo-Zoom, The Greatest Little Zoo on Wheels,” showing twice on Wednesday. The first performance will be at 10 a.m. at the library. The second performance will be at 1 p.m. at the Erwinville Community Center.

The free, one-hour program, featuring animals that aren’t native to this part of the world and are rarely seen or handled by people, is appropriate for all ages.

Poker run for charity

Southern Independent Riders is sponsoring its fifth annual Poker Run on July 23, and is everyone is invited.

Proceeds will go to the Dream Day Foundation, which benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Participants riding in cars or on motorcycles pay $20 per driver and $10 per passenger.
